Manuscripts concerning New Spain, 1688-1712.

The volume contains manuscripts concerning the government of the viceroyalty of New Spain. The first and second manuscripts relate to the revenues of Mexico. These manuscripts give separate accounts of the properties of Juan de Ortega Montanes, Count de Galve, and the Duke of Albuquerque. The first manuscript consists chiefly of tables, but the title page contains an elaborately sketched border with birds and human figures. The third manuscript is a copy of the title deed of Emperor Chares V to Hernando Cortes, including the confirmation to Martin Cortes of King Philip of Spain.
